eBay United Kingdom wins the European Excellence Award 2014 in the category “Evaluation” with their work “The eBay intervention - measuring the personality of the business“. The European industry award has honored outstanding achievements in various fields of communication in a total of 60 categories since 2007.

eBay’s evaluation project prevailed over four other submissions that had been shortlisted in the category "Evaluation”:

  • ABB and Namics with “Content Health Panel”
  • Deutsche Telekom with “Social Media Center and the A-Team: Going an extra mile to serve our customers”
  • Telecom Italia with “Word of mouth in brand experience”
  • World Energy Council and Commetric with “Media Evaluation – from insights to action”

Unfortunately, the editors of communicationcontrolling.de could not gather further details on the winning project, despite repeated requests. However, two of the shortlisted projects merit a second glance: ABB and Namics as well as the World Energy Council and Commetric convinced the jury in terms of creativity, innovation, implementation and strategy of their projects. The jury consists of 38 communication specialists from companies, associations and agencies throughout Europe.

“Content Health Panel” allows global comparison of data

ABB and Namics have already won the European Digital Communication Award 2014 in the category “Digital Monitoring and Evaluation” with their project "Content Health Panel". The digital communications agency Namics developed an instrument consisting of dashboard and content performance tool. With the help of this instrument a global comparison of the analytics data of all ABB websites is possible – no matter what country of origin and author. In addition, the "Content Health Panel" also considers user behavior and provides incentive to optimize content: ABB offers its 700 world online editors automated, personalized guidance to improve their content.

“Insights” into the global media landscape

The media monitoring agency Commetric analyzes the global media coverage for the World Energy Council (WEC), thus providing a more consistent and effective communication of the energy organization with member committees in over 90 countries. Which messages work best in which markets? Which spokespeople were most frequently quoted? By using in-depth analysis, the WEC could determine which communication measures most significantly strengthened the image of the organization. Hence, the tri-annual World Energy Congress was identified as being particularly successful: It generated the most positive comments. The media analysis also shows which member committees were proving most successful and therefore can be considered as an internal best practice.

The European Excellence Awards are awarded annually by Communication Director, a magazine on corporate communications and public relations in Europe. This year's award ceremony was held in Paris on 4th December.
A winner book with information on the winning projects including eBay is scheduled for publication in the next months.
